TRAVELLING
Katie Welton is going travelling around the world for 1 year!
This exciting trip will bring back tons of inspiration so keep checking back for new and improved designs online!
My interest in jewellery and all that it encompasses covers a broad range of ideas. Jewellery should be unique, wearable, exceptional in design and finish and most of all, engaging.
Aesthetically I focus on precision work inspired by simple geometry combined with inspiration drawn from Sci-Fi Medias.
My designs create a sense or a feel of a Sci-Fi object or artefact whilst still being wearable jewellery with a broader appeal.
I combine silver, anodised aluminium, acrylic and stainless steel. The union of these materials allows me to create machined components which when put together create colourful kinetic pieces that through being worn invite the wearer to engage and play with them.
Previous collections have focused far more on geometric patterns used to build up components into a finished piece. As my designs and techniques have developed though the Sci-Fi aesthetics are becoming much more dominant which is leading me to create some really exciting work.
